N30qtc There can be little doubt that Lance Armstrong is very fast cyclist...but now he can also add very fast swimmer to his long list of talents and accomplishments.

This weekend in Austin Texas, Lance Armstrong easily broke 50 minutes at the Red Licorice 2.4-mile open water swim.

In fact, he swam the Iron distance swim race in 49.12...coming in third overall in the men's division:

1. James Bonney 48:50
2. James Cotter 49:02
3. Lance Armstrong 49:12

BTW: you can click HERE for the complete results.

Lance Armstrong swim time is especially impressive given that seven time Tour de France champ has spent countless hours on the bike, instead of in the pool.

After the weekend's race Armstrong tweeted from his triathlon alter ego Joan Pelota @ juanpelota :

“Done w/ the @ Red_Licorice 2.4 mi open water swim. 3rd place. Time was 48 high. Congrats to @ JamesBonney on the win.”

As you may recall from the exclusive EMT video interview below, Lance Armstrong confirmed to EMT that he's planning on racing a triathlon.

Today Armstrong followed up with this tweet:

"I'm eatin' bfast tacos now but I can hardly lift em to my face."

The photo above was taken by Becky Joyce (@joycut) and posted on twitter. Joyce tweeted along with the image, "here are top 3 coming in from their first lap...back out and around again (lance is in there)"
