The Boulder Peak Triathlon may not be the town's biggest race but it certainly is one of Boulder's oldest and hardest races.
Each year a handful of professional triathletes take on the race which dishes up Old Stage Road (one of the steepest climbs in the country) and a blazing hot run in the Colorado sun.
This year several the hometown professionals took up the local hometown race challenge and did very well indeed.
Joanna Zeiger (JZ as she's locally known) came back from an injury she received at the 70.2 Ironman World Championships two years ago winning the race easily and Tim O' Donnell (TO as he's locally know) repeated on the men's side for a one two local punch.
Matt Reed, fresh from the airport and the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in Minneapolis, Minnesota ran his way into 3rd place.
