Looking for Rhythm

Posted Nov 03 2009 10:03pm
I had a great swim last night at Masters.  2650 yards and my coach told me I am really getting more consistent with my speed.  Yay me!!  The only problem with Masters swim is that it doesn't end until 9:30 p.m., and by the time I shower and drive home it's a little after 10.  (That is late in the Trimommy world!)

Since I have my longest work day on Tuesdays and am much more likely to complete a morning workout than an evening workout, my plan for this morning was to get up early before the boys and hop on the trainer for 45 minutes.  Well, my alarm went off at 5:15, but I was not getting out of the bed.  No way was it happening.  In my defense, I had quite a big training day yesterday, but still.

Since I've been back to running I'm having a hard time finding my training rhythm, so to speak.  I really need to sit down and figure out a plan.  That's right, a plan.  I just don't do well with this fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants style of training.  What I really want (need?) is a coach.  I want someone who knows what they are doing to tell me exactly what I should do.  The problem with the whole coaching thing is that it costs money (doesn't everything?).  So, unless a coach wants to step up and see what they can do with me for a way reduced price or for the love of sport, or something like that, I have to figure it out myself.

So on my ever-growing mental to-do list which I should really write down because I always forget what is on it, I will add figure out a doable training schedule.

On another, strange note...I went to the CNY Triathlon Club meeting tonight.  The meeting itself was very productive.  There were about 10 of us there brainstorming and discussing ideas for next season.  The meeting was in an administrative building for a local school district and there was another meeting going on in another larger room with about 30 or so people.  In our room 10 very fit and lean people were discussing how to grow our club and get people involved in triathlon.  The other room was hosting a support group for people who had undergone gastric bypass surgery.  There are so many things to say about this funny little coincidence, but no matter what I say it will never to it justice, so I will just leave it at that!
