"You can totally do it" were the words my husband said when he encouraged me to sign up for a bike race in Colorado in May.
A couple weeks ago I set the alarm on the clock at Midnight to register for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic . It is a very popular race and I was advised that I must register early in order to secure a spot. At 12:05 I was on the computer registering for the road bike race (for me) and the mountain bike race for P.
So what is this race? Well after I hit confirm on the registration I investigated a little further. The ride is a 50 mile bike race from Durango to Silverton....UP HILL. You start at the bottom around 6500 feet and climb up to about 10,000 feet all the while racing a steam train. The goal is to beat the train to Silverton. Except my goal is TO NOT DIE.
Seriously...what the ____ was I thinking? When I start thinking becoming anxious about this race a certain Kelly Clarkson song pops into my head, but this time the lyrics sing "What doesn't kill you makes you...well...could very well kill you."
