Not much to report or much 'free' info to give today. I've been pretty wiped out this week. Workouts have been good, but I'm looking forward to about 5 or 6 days from now when I start to rest up a bit for Ironman Wisconsin. The men's field is shaping up to be a solid one. I guess there are no easy races anymore...but I've been saying that for the last 5 years or so.
Events this weekend...Ironman Canada, Ironman Louisville, Chicago Triathlon. All three have Austin pros racing. I'm sure that all three have other Austinites racing. The Hammerhead Olympic Triathlon has one of our athletes racing as well as a friend of ours. Good luck to those folks.
CapTex is putting on an open water swim this weekend. It's at Festival beach on the 'East' side of Town Lake...Check out the info and a link here.
Free Stuff?: This AM at swimming a fellow master's swimmer stopped me to say that his SO (that's significant other or in this case wife) went to the Marks Daily Apple link to the right and started reading through his site and purchased his book. She was on the verge of diabetes...I suspect Type II which is what they call it now since so many kids are getting it, and it used to be called 'adult onset'. Anyway, she started following the 'primal' eating plan and is no longer on the verge. Congrats to her.
Goes to show that with a little bit of work you can make big changes for the better. But, to a certain extent you've got to look out for yourself. I suspect she lost a bit of weight if that was a concern. I'd say start small with cutting the carbs...which generally means sugar and wheat (as well as other grains)...but those are so prevalent, that I sometimes think that people would rather just deal with whatever results from the SAD (that's standard american diet) and complain about it.
