Since we really don' t have the a beehive of activity at the EverymanTri test lab we put it to the test immediately (read tried some).
Actually we don' t have a test lab, but you probably already suspected that.
Anyway, the Clif Quench tastes a bit like a hybrid combination of Gatorade and Cytomax. In other words, we found it a tad less salty than Gatorade, and a tad less sweet than Cytomac sports drink.
So what makes Clif Quench different in an already crowded market of spots drinks?
According to the Clif literature that came with the samples:
- 88 percent organic, all natural
- No high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
- No artificial flavors
- more sustainable packaging (1st bottle of its kind made from recycled PET plastic).
And you know what...that' s all good.
Especially the lack of HFCS. We say if you are going to have sugar have the real stuff, and not some cheaper version of sugar made from corn with potentially questionable nutritional value.
So while we certainly don' t have the expertise to judge if the new Clif Quench Sports Drink is better at replenishing lost sodium, sugars, or electrolytes compared to the leading brands, we think it is definitely worth a try to see if your body performs better with the new drink.
