I did my first triathlon through Team In Training and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Raising money for an amazing cause (fighting cancer) made the whole experience so much more meaningful, and it's certainly motivating when you're out there struggling to press on to keep the perspective of people battling with cancer. I met a truly amazing group of people, and felt completely supported by my team and coaches. The program took us step by step to enable everyone on the team to feel comfortable and ready for the race once race day came - the actual race was an amazing experience. It's a remarkable experience to set such a challenging goal and work so hard to achieve it, alongside a great team of people supporting each other. Go Team!
I enjoy running and have always wanted to do a triathlon, but I only think I would be capable of doing it if I did do something like you with the team in training. I was just wondering where you could find a team in training and join?
You can find information about team in training at
http://www.teamintraining.org/ Just enter your zip code and your local chapter should come up. I am just about to finish training for the Lavaman olympic distance triathlon (April 6th babay!) with the Silicon Valley chapter and have had a great experience. It's such a great group of people who are all committed to supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and helping each other finish their event. They will literally will take you from wherever you are to able to finish or more (depending on your goals). Good luck!
To all of you Team in Training members-you rock! I'm a supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and their mission, and to know there's a program like this that benefits both the participant and the society so significantly is great.
