San Diego, CA –TriExpo, the biggest consumer tradeshow in all of multisport, will debut in San Diego the weekend of Friday, January 29. The two-day event, which will take place at the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa on Mission Bay, will provide access and insight into many of the biggest names of triathlon and endurance sports.
Attendees of the two-day TriExpo will have the opportunity to test wetsuits, bikes and other gear along Mission Bay, while athletes host clinics and group training sessions throughout both days. The group activities will include a “Breakfast Burrito” ride, presented by the San Diego Triathlon Club, with cycling legend Chris Carmichael and Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong, as well as a training run with two-time Ironman Champion Craig Alexander, Olympian Kara Goucher and Dean Karnazes on Saturday at 7:30 am. Renowned USA Triathlon Coach Jim Vance will also host group swims on both Friday and Saturday.
“We’re really excited to be hosting an event that will cover every aspect of the multisport and triathlon events,” said Bob Babbitt, editor of Competitor Magazine. “Since TriExpo will be held in conjunction with the ESA Awards, we thought it’d be a great opportunity to invite some of the athletes that will be honored at the banquet, who have been an integral part of making endurance sports what they are today. The group runs, swims and rides will be a great opportunity for athletes and fans to come out and meet some of the best in the world.”
Notable attendees include cycling legend Chris Carmichael, Female Cyclist of the Year Kristin Armstrong, 2010 NYC Marathon Champion Meb Kaflezighi, Male Triathlete of the Year Craig Alexander, Competitor of the Year Chris Lieto and Challenged Athlete of the Year Cody McCasland. Seven clinics will highlight Friday’s schedule, when the first 100 to arrive will receive goodie bags courtesy of TYR, Clif Bar and Kaiser Permanente. Matt Fitzgerald and Dean Karnazes will make presentations about their books, Racing Weight and Ultramarathon Man, later in the afternoon.
The TriExpo will be free and open to the public, as well as group swims, runs and rides. Please visit http://thetriexpo.com for more information and a schedule of events.
