Caster Semenya to sue IAAF and ASA for well over $100 million

Posted Dec 28 2009 11:11am

You don't have to be able to read the tea leaves to see this lawsuit coming from 800 meters away.

It seems that this summer's biggest running controversy is moving from the track to the courts.

According to Caster Semenya has retained an attorney and is now planning on suing the International Association of Athletics and Athletics South Africa for a combined$138 million.

"Semenya plans to sue the IAAF for $120 million (£75 million) and ASA for $18 million (£11 million).

She is angry that the IAAF allegedly leaked the information during the World Championships in Berlin in August that there were doubts about her gender and were then subsequently responsible for the information that tests had revealed she was a hermaphrodite

As you may recall from THIS story, the 18-year-old South African runner came out of nowhere and easily won the gold medal in the 800 meters at the summers World Championships in Berlin.
