I think I've set a new record for the longest time between blog posts. What have I been up to? Lots of stuff.
After our Boston adventure, I treated myself to one more weekend of debauchery before getting back to business. My 2 BFF's and I decided to reunite back home in Iowa. It was the first weekend in a very long time that I had no long runs to prepare for, no killer workouts to recover from, and no races in the near future. I really had no excuse not to go all out and have 100% pure fun... and that's exactly what we did.

After suffering from one severe, but totally worthwhile hangover, I headed back home to get ready to go back to work. I always hate the Monday after a vacation. The 421 emails in my inbox Monday morning made this one no exception.
Monday also marked another important day for me.... The beginning of my tri season!
I've been exceptionally lazy this year. Last year I was swimming, biking and lifting regularly on top of my spring marathon training. This year I was doing nothing other than running. I'm paying for that now.
You'd think I'd be somewhat in shape after spending so many months training for a marathon, but I'm not. In fact I'm probably in the worst shape I've been in for a couple of years.
Monday I had to get back to business. I added swimming and biking back into my workout schedule, and managed to get in a couple really good workouts in each sport. I've been forcing myself to ride my tri bike and I'm feeling much more confident in the aero position. My balance is better and I'm beginning to get a feel for switching gears while climbing. I'm still on my 2 week break up with running (and not missing it AT ALL!), so I've been doing the P90X workouts for cardio and strength training. I'll have to write a review on that program because it is TOUGH! It's definitely not for everyone, but I like being able to get a kick ass workout done in the privacy of my own house.
After doing nothing but running for so long, my new workout schedule kicked my ass! I can't remember the last time I've worked this hard or been this exhausted. Even so, I'm loving every second of it!
Another reason this blog has gone unattended is because in my "free" time (not exactly sure how I've found free time between 2-a-day workouts and my regular job) I've been reading the Twilight series. My sis in law lent me the books with the warning that I would probably fall off the face of the earth for the next week or so as I read them. She was absolutely right! Despite being exhasuted from working out so much, I still can't stop myself from staying up way too late at night reading.
So there's the update. Not a whole lot of exciting news to report on, but I figured I should post something.
