The fifth running of the Ironman Western Australia Ironman triathlon in Brusselton, Australia saw a first time winner and a Kiwi on the podium.
According to Ironman.com:
"It's been a great day here in Busselton, as the fifth running of the
Ironman Western Australia triathlon has been run, and won. We have a
new champion in Tim Berkel, who is sure to feature on many more Ironman
podiums in the future.
For the women, Gina Ferguson returned to the Ironman winners circle,
with her next goal to be a big performance at the Ford Ironman World
Championship.
We saw the athletes start this morning, and we've managed to see a
great majority of them finish here at Barnard Park tonight. What each
athlete goes through, be it professional or an every day age grouper,
is nothing short of amazing. But this is Ironman, where anything is
possible."
