Imagine taking on 101 triathlons in 100 days?
Dr. John Curtin of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, swam, biked, and ran his way into the Guinness Book of World Records last week by completing his 101st triathlon in 100 days.
“The toll has been enormous. I've been sore, I've been tired, I’ve not wanted to get up some mornings, but what keeps me motivated is I think about the sexually and physically abused children and the pain and suffering that they go through on a daily basis, and when I think about that, what I'm going through is nothing,” said Curtin.
Curtin took on a century of triathlons to raise awareness for Missouri Kids First, an advocacy group that helps families who are traumatized by abuse and violence.
After the last race Curtin said, " “I feel great. I was told it wasn't gonna be done, people looked
at me like I was stupid and crazy, and told me I would never get past
10 triathlons. And we did 101.”
