I am the father of Drew, a boy who was born profoundly deaf in both ears. He received simultaneous, bilateral cochlear implants at 8 months of age in September 2007. Our blog is our record of our family's immersion and interaction within the world of deafness. We hope that it helps others find the information and guidance that they might be looking for.

I went suddenly deaf in 1975 at age 4 of unexplained causes. I wore a hearing aid in my one "good" ear for just over 30 years, and then within the space of about a year year I lost all my remaining hearing. I am a late-deafened adult who also has Meniere's disease. I was surgically implanted with a cochlear implant in April of 2005. I have a hearing assistance dog from Fidos For Freedom.
