The half volley. The half volley is made by hitting the ball on the rise just after it has bounced, generally when you're close to the net.
The lob. The lob is made by hitting the ball high and deep into the opponent's court, often over the opponent's head when they're up at the net.
The overhead smash. The overhead smash is a hard, serve-like shot, usually hit when the opponent hits a lob too short, used to try to end the point.
The volley. A volley is made in the air before the ball bounces, generally close to the net, and is usually made with a stiff-wristed punching motion.
Use both hands. Learn to hit one-handed and two-handed backhand.
