GreenerImpact .. joined this team. I have a terrible time with getting to sleep, and have a bad Ambien habbit. I am working on some techniques that my therapist gave me, called Mindfulness...sort of like meditation. I need to connect with a support group of insomniacs, who are looking to find solutions for this issue. Thank you. Michael W. Jul 22 2008

My latest method to "sleep" 

 

At days’ end as I attempt to drift off

To that subconscious state.

The wraths of life come meandering down

through my thought processes

In order to seek peace and contentment.

I convert these thoughts to abstract pictures.

                            of peace and contentment.

I see the graceful curves existing in harmony

With the sheen of the straight, gentle scribes.

Like a meandering river through a forest of stately pines.

The pure white color gives a sense of virginity

While it’s smooth glossy surface begs to be touched.

The serenity of these visions are soothing to the soul

And bring peace to the conscious mind

Allowing me to enter the subconscious state.

                                               Good night……..

I usually end up going to bed around midnight - it seems there is always that "one more thing " that neds done. Then I wake up at 3:00 remembering something I need to make a note of .... My mind just will not let me sleep. My body is saying "Lets get some sleep" my mind says "Shut up, Im busy thinking what color those shoes should be" ------->
