League City, Texas
I am a 40 years young, full-time working Wife, Mom and sometime student and most recently, a triathlete! After having Gastric Bypass Surgery on November 15, 2006, I'm learning what it's like to actually lead my life, instead of watching it from the sidelines. The journey was not an easy one to start and there have been some ups and downs, but I don't reget my choice as it was best for me.

Cyclin' Missy

Grand Rapids, Michigan
I'm an avid cyclist and runner in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I've always enjoyed being active, but I believe that these middle years of my life are an opportunity to become stronger and smarter about my fitness than I've ever been before.  I'm also going through a try-new-things phase in my athletic endeavors such as running my first triathlon last year and my first marathon this...

East Bay, California
I spent my teens, 20's and 30's doing unhealthy things to my body and emotions and I've been trying to break those habits ever since. I started running when I was 46 and ran my first marathon when I was 47. Having completed 30 marathons in 18 states, I finally admitted that I'd like to complete all 50 states. Whether running, cycling or swimming I'm a front of the back of the packer who would...

Cincinnati, Ohio
I am a retired journalist and news junkie. During my 27-year newspaper career, I researched, wrote and edited many stories fitness, dieting, health and wellness. My personal wellness goals are to be happy and healthy. Like a lot of people, I have a good deal of dieting experience. Wellsphere seems to be the kind of place where a person looking for support could find it.

Raleigh, North Carolina
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1995 at the age of 19.  I use an insulin pump and rarely disconnect, even during physical activities -- don't worry, I've destroyed a couple of pumps... Though I write and include a lot of details about my diabetes or d-related information, in my daily life I don't "focus" on the fact that I am diabetic.  To me, it's a challenge...

I have a son(aged 1 year) and a daughter (3 years). I work as a professional freelance writer from home. 2 pregnancies and a erratic schedule made my body not how I wanted it. I have tried thing, from yoga and aerobics to...

I'm trying to get healthy again after a medicine induced thyroid problem that caused my weight to climb to 153lbs. I'm on thyroid medicine now and have lost most of the weight but would also like to be toned up. My weight goal is about 100lbs. Give or take a few lbs. since I've never realy been verry muscular I may decide I like a higher weight better since muscle weighs more than fat.

A few other items in the gratitude department are: living within biking distance of Stanford, so I can spare the air, save gas $, and get exercise commuting to work, being married to a cool guy, having two fun kids, and a good dog, great neighbors who are smart and...

My first triathlon ever was in 1985 at Contra Loma Reservoir in Antioch. I was next to last out of the swim, ran out of breath just running to my bike, but somehow finished, and decided that I liked this new sport.
