How does one get started?

I'm contemplating starting Tai Chi - any suggestions?

Well, you might look for a class in your area, but there are also some fine tai chi videos available. Know that there's some formal forms of tai chi, i.e., "long form" that may be a lot to grasp at once...or not...depends on what you want to do with tai chi.
Jennifer, as a member of the Stanford community, you could start with the HIP exercise classes. There are several tai chi classes offered each quarter, with very good teachers.
