Tomorrow we celebrate the 19 th birthday of one of the nations favourite diving champion’s – Tom Daley. Since his rise to fame following last years Olympic Games held in London, he has certainly became a household name that we are extremely proud of for representing our country. Having won the diving bronze medal for Great Britain, it is evident that Tom has a raw talent for diving.
Previous to the Olympics, Daley was named the 2009 FIND World Champion at the young age of 15. Specialising in the 10 metre platform event, the young diver has made an impact in a variety of national and international competitions since he was just nine years old. Some of Daley’s other achievements include winning two silver medals in the 2008 Junior World Championships, two gold medals for England at the 2010 Commonwealth games and one gold medal at the European Championships in 2012. Tom has won awards for the 3 metre springboard, platform synchronisation and the 10 metre platform events.
It’s not just diving awards that Tom Daley has won over the past few years; he has also won Young Sports Personality of the Year on many occasions as well as Male Hottie of the Year and Best British Sports Star at the BBC Teen Radio 1 Awards. Following his success at the London Olympics last year, Daley featured in ITV’s celebrity diving reality show, ‘Splash!’ where he took part as a mentor.
