Swimming Tips - Preventing injury

No diving. Unless you know the pool is deep enough, do not dive in.
Stretch after warmup. Stretch for 5 – 10 minutes after warming up for 15 minutes.
Be aware. When swimming laps, stay aware of other swimmers around you.
Circle swim. Even if there's only 2 of you in a lane, circle swim so others can join in.
Don't stop in the middle. Try not to stop in the middle of the pool, wait until your at the wall to stop.
Find your lane. Lanes are usually designated Slow, Medium or Fast. Find the one that's right for you.
Getting passed. If someone touches your foot, continue swimming to the wall and then let the person behind you pass.
Leave space. If you're lap swimming, leave some space between you and the swimmer in front of you.
Notify when entering. When entering a lane where someone's swimming, notify the swimmer that you're coming in.
Passing. When overtaking another swimmer while lap swimming, wait until you get to the wall and then pass.
