Results of the 2nd Annual South Davis Recreation Center Masters Swim Meet

Posted Nov 15 2008 2:40pm
Early this morning Cathi, Jonas and I went to the SDRC for the 2nd annual South Davis Masters Meet. There were over 200 swimmers in this meet so it was very well attended and Kris Edwards and crew did a fantastic job organizing and executing the flow of the meet.

Here are our events with (seed time) and time swam today.

Gords:
1650 yd Freestyle: (23:29.06) 21:16.48 (- 2:12.58)
50 yd Freestyle: (27.38) 25.51 (- 1.87) Only 1.85 shy of PR
500 yd Freestyle:(6:30.00) 5:51.13 (- 38.87) 26 seconds shy of PR
100 yd Freestyle:(1:00.00) 55.84 (- 4.16) (4th place overall) (4.94 sec shy of PR )
200 yd Freestyle:(2:10.00) 2:02.36 (-7.64) (2nd place overall) (6.76 sec shy of PR )

Cathi:
1650 yd Freestyle: (29:48.13) 30:19.76 (+ 31.63)
50 yd Backstroke: (40.00) 42.55 (+2.55)
200 yd Backstroke: (3:41.24) 3:26.67 (- 14.57)
100 yd Backstroke: (1:30.00) 1:33.20 (+3.20)

So I went faster than all of my seed times. I estimated my seed times on the 100,200 and 500 free. My goal was to at least beat my seed times and get under 6:00 on the 500.
I was most pleased with my 50, 100, 200 then 500 and 1650 times.

Cathi recorded some of my splits on the 500:

100 - 1:03
200 - 2:15 (1:12)
300 - 3:27 (1:12)
400 - 4:40 (1:13)
500 - 5:51.13 (1:11)
Average 100 (1:10.23)

I was very pleased with all of my events and how well I did. It was an answer to all my prayers to have pulled these times. I feel great about those. Now next meet I'll have a high standard to beat. The only event I did that is a personal best is the 1650 (Only because I didn't do that event in High school or college).

Here are some video highlights of the meet....
