Thanks for the comment Billy. I would not say that the hydro hip affects the end of your stroke as your hip should already be turned up when your hand reaches the end of the stroke. I have swam with the hydro hip for a while and found it to be great and fun toy. I do not think they are that expensive, so give it a try with your swimmers.
Personally not a big fan of pull-buoys for swimming with, though I know a lot of swimmers who love them. My favorite use for them is to help swimmers work on their forward extension and catch. As you say, the PB helps keep the swimmer's legs up so they don't have to think about them and can concentrate on something else. I think I've had my biggest "wins" like that.
Doesn't the hydro-hip affect the rear end of your stroke? I've never used so don't really know - it just looks like it probably would interfer with your tricep extension.
