Walking to reduce stress

Posted by Shez B.

Recently I was very stressed and was about to get on a train. I decided to walk home instead, which took about 1 1/2. I felt so much better by the end, it proved once again how walking and focusing on your environment can relieve stress!

Walking has been working for me for last 17 years as a way to connect with nature and gets some exercise on a regular basis.
I've had the same experience, actually. I remember one recent evening that I was feeling very stressed and my bus actually broke down, so I had to walk home and there wasn't a cab or another bus in sight. It actually really helped to slow down and give myself to the elements, so to speak. By the time I got home, I felt like I'd sorted out all the stress although I really hadn't. :)
