How not to worry about stress

Posted Jan 29 2008 1:10pm 3 Comments

There isn’t any way to tell some one how to relax. Only you know your body and its needs in order to relax. Teaching your self to relax can be hard but you can do it, it may not come over night. Nevertheless, it can be done, for some of us it might take a few different tries but you will learn a way to relax.

You can always learn to do yoga asthis is an exercise that will help you to control your thinking ability. Yoga is a self teaching class, you can take a yoga class if you wish, but you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. All you need to do is go to the online and check out some information that they might have on learning yoga. Yoga is a excellent way to relax.

Aromatherapy is also good for you when wanting to relax. There are so many ways to use aromatherapy. The best way to learn this is to do it online too. Otherwise, check out your local health spa or massage therapy place.

Then maybe none of these things will work for you or you may just need to grab a good movie and relax in your leather home theater seating by yourself.

I think that pampering fixes can be nice when it comes to dealing with stress, but even something as relaxing as getting a massage has temporary effects that wear off once you're off the bed and out the door. Something I started to do recently to deal with stress is community service--specifically, reading books to terminally ill children. It's a difficult, sometimes painful environment to be in, but it's actually very conducive to combating stress because it gets you outside of yourself. I've been working a lot with metta meditation and the concept of lovingkindness/compassion for all, and I've found that directly engaging with others in a position of service does wonders for calming the heart and filling ourselves with peace of mind--even if the circumstances under which you're helping might be difficult.
Yes, you can learn yoga online, but I don't believe that one is going to get the same effect as taking a class. In a class, you have a teacher to guide you and show you the right postures and breathing techniques. After a few yoga classes you can then begin to practice on your own.
I totally agree!  Yoga, tai qi, and qigong all have meditative, physical and spiritual aspects that you are better off learning from a skilled instructor.
