Hey, doc maybe it's time to prescribe an iPod instead of Prozac?

Okay, with an opening question like that I may have opened the door to being thought of as slightly “strange”, huh? I’m okay with that possible thought running through your mind. However, before you make a final determination and send me some referrals to local mental health clinics, I ask you to entertain for a moment the notion of how certain music produces soothing effects, stimulates better moods and positive thoughts.

If you are like many others and me, you occasionally (or even frequently) struggle with managing or trying to minimize stress on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis.

It’s funny that some of the slightest adjustments can greatly enhance of moods, feelings of well-being, and minimize of feelings of stress.Ipodbaby

Looking for some ideas on how even some small adjustments or additions to your life can provide a lifetime of less stress?

I found this piece in my personal archives. I hope you enjoy it and get some stress out of your life. Let me know which tips produce the best results for you.

I think that things like exercise, music, dance, artistic activity, and healthy eating SHOULD be what doctors are prescribing instead of pharmaceuticals to treat stuff like depression. There are so many small adjustments one can make to address well-being (at least when they're not dealing with serious chemical imbalance). I think more pressure needs to be placed on the medical industry to not make hasty diagnoses around mental health and to put patients on wellness regimens that don't involve dumping potentially harmful chemicals in their body BEFORE determining that indeed, pharmaceuticals are the only thing that'll do the trick.
