Try a heating pad -- take a wet washcloth put it on your neck and then place the heating pad over it. Leave it for about 30 min. Also, try slowly rotating your shoulders forward and backward several times a day.
there a number of videos with yoga postures which are ideal for your problem. You can practice at home, and it should help as it has helped me. I had the same problem with the back, and was able to reduce pain in a week of regular (daily!) excercises. Stretching might be also good. And swimming. In addition, you can do auto-massage of your neck with your own hands. Try it - hope it helps!
