I used to write in the evenings, but I found that then I frequently was just recounting the events of my day, and sometimes had trouble falling asleep afterwards. Now, I take twenty to thirty minutes each morning, especially set aside, just to write. It is powerful and relaxing. Sometimes i write about my dreams from the night before, sometimes I just free associate. Either way, I feel it is an envigorating sort of meditation for me. Try it out. For one week, dedicate only fifteen mins in your morning routine to sitting down with a nice pen, a fancy notebook, and silence. See what comes out.
