Stop Overwhelm In Its Tracks: 2 Simple, Relaxation Tips on How To Better Your Relationship…

Posted Jul 19 2010 9:55am
Better Your Relationship While Jogging on the BeachIn all my years of working with entrepreneurs and solopreneurs many of their challenges are about how to better your relationships.

As you know we are all looking for a partner who is supportive and on the same path?

There are several myths that can compound this problem. I am here to share one of these myths with you and reveal the real truth behind this myth.

Here’s the myth:
Stress causes you to be angry with your partner because your partner works long hours

Wayne: Is that all because of stress?

Cecil: Yes and no.

The issue is that you know what kind of work your partner is doing. For example, my wife is a nurse and works 7:00 to 3:00.

She’s supposed to finish work at 3:00. If someone is admitted to the floor around 2:45, my wife could be there another hour and a half.

Tip #1:

If I go pick her up after work and she tells me she has to work another hour and a half, there’s nothing I can get upset about.

That’s just the nature of her work. You need to understand that’s just the way it is.

Some of us understand this. There’s no point in getting angry with the person.

Wayne: I would think you are very unique there. Most people who have to wait for their spouse for an hour and a half would be going crazy.

Cecil: Initially, I wondered about it but what I discovered is that is the nature of her business. To put it in context, I work from home.

My clients know I go pick up my wife at 3:00 so there are no appointments then. The whole thing is about understanding the nature of the business.

Wayne: So you readjusted your schedule.

Tip #2:

Cecil: I have to make the adjustment in my life and say, “Here’s what it is.” Another example, my wife also works 3:00 to 11:00. I need to make an adjustment and I choose to make this adjustment. When she comes home at 12:30 at night, I can spend some time with her.

This means every two weeks I’m on a different vibration. We teach in our relaxation programs that you can’t decide how you want to live your life. You’ve got to take the situations and make adjustments to them. When my wife comes home late at night, instead of her being up alone and I’m sleeping, I spend one or two hours with her.

One of the biggest obstacles that prevent entrepreneurs and solopreneurs from learning how to better your relationship with your partner is the ability to adjust to circumstances and go with the flow.

I hope I have helped to change your thinking. When you realize how simple and easy it is to improve your relationship on a daily basis, you will look forward with excitement to search and find more opportunities to have fun each day.
