Poof! It's Over

Posted Mar 20 2008 11:42am 2 Comments

Today marks an end to an era for my family. After five years of working 7 days a week between my practice and another business I owned, I closed on that business this morning. Yes ---- we finally sold it.

Magic002 After five years of juggling a dozen to two dozen employees, constantly Fielding telephone calls, scheduling issues, customer issues, number reporting, food orders, employee issues, parents of employee issues, reprogramming the register system, updating products, training new staff, training old staff on new things, countless disruptions, no vacations where you could actually relax, money being stolen, products being given away or stolen, and this list can go on and on. Well, it's almost like a magical "Poof!", and suddenly, it's gone.

As I write this post, right at this moment is the first time I feel somewhat sad about selling that business. For those of you who know me personally, you might find that hard to believe. But it's true. Even with the turmoil and higher stress over the last 5 years, there are some memories that are good. I remember the excitement when we were getting that store open. I remember many great kids who worked for me that made my life just a little easier. I remember some funny things that happened. Yes, and I also remember some really bad employees. In fact, I probably learned more from the bad ones than I did from the good ones.

By the end of today, my office area will be cleaned out, my files will be packed away, and the keys will be turned over to the new owner. Then, what will I do?

I suppose I will be bored for a while. Not as much on my plate as there was up to today. Honestly, I am looking forward to that. I think for now, I will just focus on being bored - maybe for a week or two. Then, getting my head clear and working on myself to improve who I am and being able to focus on my chiropractic practice will follow.

My life is about to change. I expect it to be even better now.....before, poof! it's over.

Thanks for a beautiful entry. It's incredible when we stop to ponder on our experiences when reaching a turning point in our lives. I really hope your chiropractic practice is extremely fulfilling and leads you to great discoveries and much happiness.
Wonderful news! Now it's time to kick up your feet and relax for awhile. It's good to be bored sometimes - gives our bodies time to rest. My parents are currently struggling with this. They own a business and want to retire, but on the other hand, they don't because they will have "nothing to do" as they say.
