I saw a great episode of Trading Spaces - wait, no, it was Clean Sweep - where there was this lady that had bin after bin meant for organization, but her house was still a mess. The host commented that her problem wasn't her intent to organize, it was her ability to actually do it. They threw out half the bins and half the content of her home.
Sometimes I think that's the way to go. The fact is, my bedroom is filled up with decorational items that I haven't touched in probably a year. Every now and then I imagine sweeping everything out (read:throwing everything away) but it's so hard to let go of stuff, isn't it?
I've finally managed to adopt that "buy a new item, get rid of an old" for my closet, but I'm really not sure what to do about the rest of my house. It's not that bad - but there's definately a lot of stuff.
I'm considering throwing a take it party, where friends can walk through and ask if they can have something. I'm wondering how that would go... although honestly, I bet what would happen is, in turn, someone else in the group would host and I'd walk home with a bunch of new stuff to replace the old. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad. New idea. Gonna try it. I'll keep you posted.
