Organization and Preparation Make for Less Stress

I flew out of bed yesterday morning before the alarm went off. It was a Sunday. For whatever reason, my brain thought it was Monday, and I was supposed to be speaking at an event. It took about five minutes of racing around before I could stop long enough in my confusion to look at the calendar and see what day it was!

When you don’t know what day it is, it’s hard to figure it out by looking at a calendar! Luckily, I’d been at a gathering the night before at a friends and it was written in on my calendar page, so I could quickly grasp that I was just confused!

Whew! It’s Monday now, I just got back from speaking, all is well!

When you know you have morning plans for the next day, make sure that you get everything ready at least the night and day before so that you are on top of things. What the rude awakening did for me for the positive, was to remind me to get my learning materials ready for my audience this morning. Since I worked all Sunday, I needed to remember that.

I tend to wait until the last minute for a lot of things. A longtime habit I do work on to correct.

Always prepare. Look ahead, plan ahead and prepare for everything up front so that you don’t “surprise” yourself into a frenzy like I did this week!
