Keeping the mind calm even under extreme stress!

How can we achieve a state of mind that remains calm, still and peaceful even when we are faced with stressful situations.  Stress and problems cannot be avoided. But when the mind is disturbed we invite various ailments physical and mental. We are unable to take quality decisions. Therefore come what we must learn to keep the mind quiet and cool for a for good health and happiness.
