Self-monitoring is a really simple and effective way of managing your stress level. For example:
When you begin to feel over-anxious and/or stressed, right away rate the stress on a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being the worst, i.e. you’re about to explode!).
Now, when you’ve got the number ask yourself this:
What would it take to bring the number down 1 notch?
Once you figure out the answer, take the action that would cause the change. Then, rate yourself on the scale and ask yourself the same question; take the action, etc.
This nifty little tool provides you a thought process and loop designed to gradually – and through your own empowered actions – bring you down to a place of comfort.
You have enormous healing potential. The goal is learning to access it.
