I would like to start getting regular massages, but am worried about not going to a nice spa, or a place that has been recommended by a friend. At the same time, I can't afford to do spa massages on a regular basis. Anyone know place that have discounted prices?
affordable massage. many massage schools have clinic programs as part of their training... advanced students offer massage to the public, and in return get their required practice hours & feedback. the rates are usually $25-$45/hour, depending on the student-practitioner's level of advancement & education.
Massage Schools . Hi! I'm going to add a little bit to the other answer. http://www.naturalhealers.com/ is a website that lists several of the massage schools that are available. Not all of the ones in your area will be on there, but it's a great place to start.
Tips for your massage:
Be sure to tip. The masseuse typically has to pay a rate to the place he/she works out of.
Remember to drink lots of water to rid your body of the toxins the massage will release.
Communicate - if you want your masseuse to press harder or softer, they'll only know if you tell them.
Be sure to ask what they plan to do - some masseuses fancy themselves chiropractors - not a great idea. Be certain you let your masseuse know there should be no cracking.
Hope this helps!
