Drummer Gary Allen (Charlie Daniels Band, J.J. Cale’s Band, The Outfit) gets his sweat on during practices, rehearsals, jams and concerts, no doubt. He does admit that, “I have done stretches and toe touches to limber up and get mentally prepared for a show.” However, musicians have different needs â€“ almost the opposite needs, you might say â€“ from the rest of us. “Modern Drummer magazine advises to never lift weights but repetitive curls with low weight dumbells is fine.”
However, he also says this in the exercise department: “I get plenty of physical exercise from moving my musician friends in and out of ex girlfriends and wives houses, apartments and condos. I digress, but it's true, unfortunately."
