Flakes For the Soul

Posted Dec 08 2009 8:32am

Here it is: winter. I was just thinking to myself as was getting ready to come to the club yesterday morning,  “I really need to start getting up earlier. It’s going to start snowing before too long.” As I finished my preparations, and stepped outside my door, I was shocked. It had snowed. I decided right then and there that I was going to be careful about what I said for the rest of the day. “Pretty soon, I am going to win the lottery.” Well, maybe that’s just wishful thinking, but that is what this time of year is about; making our wishes come true.

Enter: Trainer Claus. Yes, that’s right, I’m bringing weight loss to all the good boys and girls. I’ll bet you’re thinking by now that this is a lofty idea…but that’s really not the case. I guess the point that I’m trying to make, is that  if you want to make your wishes come true, you have to rely on yourself. I’m not saying that you may not need help or guidance, but I think that you really have to decide what you want for your life and go after it.

I have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with many gifts. I call them gifts because they are only things that have been granted me for a small period of time. What’s more, these gifts are not just there for my entertainment, these things are in place to help others—it took me a long time to realize this. The discovery of these gifts or abilities started off almost the same every time. They all began with a desire; that desire turned into a passion, that passion turned into a mission and that mission grew into something that was no longer about me.

We live our lives, for the most part, doing the best we can based on the way we were raised. We grow up with dreams and ambitions, and pursue these things for a time, until other goals take over or we lose sight of what we really want. Then, one day, we take a look at ourselves and remember that we forgot to stay on track. What makes it even more difficult to pallet, is we’re not sure how to get back to where our mind was when those things were important.

I absolutely love what I do for a living. I get to help people re-discover themselves mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. With any luck, people will be able to benefit from my path and experience. More often than not, personal training is not about getting someone into shape; it’s about sparking that inner fire that we as humans sometimes forget about as we go through life.

So really, the point of all of this is that you can make the wishes, dreams and hopes inside of you come alive. I’m not saying that just by thinking, you are going to make the earth spin in the opposite direction, or that you’ll be able to catch bullets in your teeth. I’m just saying that a little belief goes a long way, and the things you do to support that belief will only make you stronger.
