Overeating Comfort Foods?

Do you have trouble passing by those wonderful foods that are offered during the holidays? Do you sometimes eat to deal with stress during this time? Using meridian tapping is a great and very easy way to not overeat this holiday season – without feeling any sense of deprivation.
Try this exercise at home, and see how it works for you.
Imagine a favorite food that you expect to see at a social event coming up. Now imagine cutting it in quarters. Allow yourself to enjoy the look and especially the smell of this food. On a scale of 0-10 (0=no interest) how much do you want to eat this food. Let's say it is minty brownies. Write down your number. Now draw a stick figure of a face with eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth on it. Put the number 1 between the eyebrows, 2 at the side of the eyes, 3 under the eyes, 4 under the nose, 5 at the chin crease, then the rest of the numbers you can either put onto the rest of the body or just write them down. 6 is the upper chest, 7 is under the arm (at the bra line), 8 is inside of the wrists, 9 is the inner side of the thigh with fingertips touching the knee, and 10 is top of the head. Finally, if I say “the karate chop place” I think you can identify the place on the outside of your hand where that is, right?
Back to those brownies. See the brownies, smell them, yum! You have them now cut in quarters and sitting on your plate. Here is the exercise you do with them. When you are used to doing this, it should take no more than three minutes.
Part One:  using one hand, tap the karate chop place on the other hand while saying: “even though I really want this brownie (substitute your food), I totally love and accept myself.” Say this three times. Then tap the points on your face, etc., saying “brownie, brownie, brownie” or whatever your food is. So you will tap the #1 point several times while saying the food name three times, and then move on to #2, etc. When you get used to the points, it should take about a minute.
Part Two: do the same thing, except this time you say: “even though I want ALL of this brownie, I totally love and accept myself.” Then you tap the points saying “all of it, all of it, all of it” and you can vary with “I want all of it” if you want.
Part Three: do the same thing again, and this time you say: “even though I want all if it RIGHT NOW, I totally love and accept myself.” Then you tap the points saying “right now, right now, right now” and you can vary it with “I want all of it right now” as you go around the points.
After you have completed this, look at your food. How much do you want now? Pay close attention. If your number did not go down significantly, please call me for a free 10 minute session. Can you imagine how this might help you get through a party? When you do this exercise for real (it works just fine to look at the food, and then excuse yourself to the restroom) the next part is that you eat exactly as much as you want after doing the tapping. This is absolutely not about deprivation, it is about eating exactly as much as you want – and no more. If you are at home, put the rest in the freezer. If you're at a party, thrill the hostess by asking to take some home. Of course, when you take it out later, you will tap again, and again, eat exactly as much as you want at that point.
Are you willing to spend three minutes to give your body the chance to tell you how much you actually want? Are you willing to spend three minutes to get through the holidays without using food to lower your stress? If not, then we can address that issue in a session. Happy Holidays!
