After two trial losses, to the Sharks and Roosters, Sea Eagles head coach Geoff Toovey is determined to build some momentum for their 2013 campaign and sees the hostile environment of Suncorp Stadium as the perfect place to do it.

“We got away to a fairly good start last year so we’ll be hoping to do the same this year,” he said.

“It’s pretty important that you get a few wins at the beginning of the season to get that confidence up and get on a bit of a roll.”

The visitors will be without the services of co-captain Jason King and backrower Glenn Stewart, both recovering from pre-season surgeries.

However, where the Sea Eagles surrender experience, they gain plenty of depth. Toovey has named six potential Manly debutants in his extended squad, a huge vote of confidence in the off-season signings.
