Is there a difference between spinning and indoor cycling?

Posted by Swati S.

Apparently not. In terms of technique, or the actual exercise, they both seem to be the same. The only difference is in the surrounding space around you. Spinning has a certified instructor, music and visualization to help you stay focused and motivated.

I suppose if you feel that you may quit out of boredom, then spinning would be a good option. But if not, then indoor cycling indoor cycling appears to be just as good. This is my opinion, and I would love to hear what others out there feel about this.

I have never tried spinning but I did buy a wind trainer (basically a machine to keep your bike stationary and you can increase the intensity for more strength and endurance) for my bike and I get a really good workout. I have the music blasting and I watch tv (keeping it on mute) so the time goes by pretty fast. Just for the record it is much cheaper to buy a bike and a wind trainer than it is to buy a stationary bike such as a Lifecycle. The total for my bike and wind trainer came to about $600 whereas a stationary bike was around $900 to $2500. At least that's what I saw. And you get the best of both worlds because you can ride the bike both indoors and outdoors.
