I heard on the news the other day that soccer will now be a commonly followed sport in American lives due to David Beckham's arrival to the states. Personally, I have always enjoyed playing and watching soccer, but it got me to think... how many people watch sports for the sport vs. the players? I'm fascinated by the concept that people who were never interested in soccer are going to start watching it (or shall I say watch David Beckham?)
I don't know... I'm going to have to admit that I do watch the tennis matches because the guys are cute - certainly not football and baseball - well, they're typically better looking but then they do gross things like scratch grab and spit. I don't intend to start watching soccer because of Beckham, though. I guess... I guess I put in my vote that I have to be interested in the sport to begin with (ie. tennis) and cute boys are simply a perk.
