I have just returned home after a 10 week trip to the other side of the planet and I have jet lag! It is really horrible rather like being laid low with a winter virus. We spent 4 weeks in Mexico City visiting our younger daughter and then 6 weeks in the UK where our older daughter and our little 2 year old granddaughter live.
We had a wonderful time but it is nice to be home. The best bit about coming back home is a decent sized bed- we are too old for a standard double!
I think jet lag must be worse the longer you are away because I do not remember it being so bad last time I went to England when it was only a month. Or maybe age makes it worse. I have been taking 5 mgs melatonin each night since we got home and I am sleeping much better than Granddad who refused to take it. He did finally agree to trying it last night and for the first time he slept right through the night. But of course now he says it was coming right anyway as we have been back for one week. Some folk just don’t want to be helped!
I would love to hear your experiences with jet lag . Do you find it worse going East or West? Some say that recoverytime is 1 day for each dateline crossed. We crossed 12 date lines so should be totally normal by Tuesday if this is the case.
