How Much Faith Do You Put Into Conventional Medicine?

Posted by Philip T. Healthy Living Professional

Do the big pharmaceutical corporations really have your health in mind or are they just after the billions of dollar’s they make each year. If you thought it was the first, then it’s time to wake and smell the coffee.

Grab a coffee and watch this now: http://www.youtube.com/v/FPI7zdGdqo4&

Quote from Dr Mercola: “For over 100 years conventional medicine has seized control of the US health care system and as a result we have over 800,000 people who are killed by interacting with this system. It is likely that over 50 million Americans have died prematurely from this abuse.”

Having suffered from chronic insomnia I feel that from my experience, more advice on natural insomnia cures should be provided by doctors. It was only after many years of suffering that I realized that alternative cures for insomnia other than sleeping pills existed. Those years of sleepless nights not being able to fall into sleep until the early morning were the worst years of my life. I just wished that more was done for me and more help was provided.

I would ask my doctor what was wrong with me and told him time and time again 'I just can't get no sleep!' Time and time again he would offer the basic sleep facts and sleep help - "Try these sleep aids and come back in a month" he would say. It was frustrating beyond belief, and I felt that I was being severely let down. I just wanted to know how to sleep better so that I wasn't a complete wreck all the time.

Deep down, I knew that I could fall asleep without the use of sleep aids and even natural sleep aids. I knew that my subconscious still knew how to fall asleep and that I had reconditioned my mind negatively over the years. I started looking at alternative ways to deal with insomnia, not just by looking at natural sleep remedies but looking at sleep techniques - by looking into techniques such as hypnosis and EFT. I realized that insomnia help was always there, but I was too blind to see past the obvious and I wasn't looking into the deeper causes of insomnia I was merely paying attention to the symptom - sleep deprivation.

Thoughts such as 'How much sleep do I need?' and 'If I don't get enough sleep, I'll be a wreck' were constantly on my mind. But for me, I believe that much of my sleep problems were manifested by my negative thoughts. Worry, stress and anxiety was making sleep ever more difficult to attain. By using techniques that tapped directly into my subconscious I was slowly able to unlearn negative sleep thoughts and habits that were sabotaging my sleep.

I used several techniques that made up my adhoc sleep program but it worked. Not all sleep disorders can be helped or cured through techniques such as CBT and EFT, but I believe that people should be open to new techniques and make sleeping pills their last option.

I personally believe that medicine is a load of crap. My immune system is excellent, it's rare that I get sick, and when I do I walk it off. Then when my legs fall off, I sleep it off. Last year was the first time I had been sick in about a decade; I had severe pnuemonia and didn't take any medicine. The only thing I did different from my normal routine was eat more veggies, drink more water, and sleep a bit more. That's the natural cure, unless you have a toothache and in that case, the cure is whiskey.

:-)

As for your insomnia, I'm sure it's kind of hard to sleep it off. I can't help you there. Interesting post though!
