Will a Sea Salt Acne Scrub Get Rid of Painful Pimples?

There are a few inarguable facts about what causes acne. Many people would agree that a pimple is created by dead skin cells mixing with oil to clog a pore, eventually becoming a painful and infected lesion when penetrated by the p. acnes bacteria on the skin.
Many beauty and health blogs online that talk about natural acne remedies , praise the sea salt acne scrub because of its natural ability to exfoliate and remove dead skin to potentially stop a pimple from forming.
At face value, this seems like a great concept since sea salt is a natural and inexpensive ingredient that will exfoliate your skin. However, a sea salt acne scrub becomes less and less attractive when you discover the true cause of acne , stemming from dietary triggers .
Using a sea salt acne scrub will help to exfoliate your skin, which may be beneficial to maintain your complexion. BUT! If your complexion is not already healthy and strong based upon the proper balance of vitamins and minerals in your diet, then it will not have the ability to resist acne bacteria on your skin no matter how much you exfoliate!
According to Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D., of the Mayo Clinic, sea salt and table salt are made of two basic minerals, sodium and chloride. Although sea salt is commonly marketed as a healthier alternative to table salt in both gourmet foods and cosmetics, the only difference between the two is in their flavor, not their chemical makeup.
Here we wil go out on a limb and directly refute the claim made by this practitioner. A natural sea salt contains over 84 minerals and trace minerals, which is far more nourishing to your body then any other processed table salt can provide.
Let’s see what a few acne sufferers at the acne.org forums had to say about using a sea salt acne scrub, shall we?
Doesn’t work. I used Dead Sea Salt to bathe my face 15 mins a day for about 2 weeks, and saw no real improvement. In fact I had huge breakouts the first couple of days I used it. At first I thought my skin was purging, buy apparently it was not.
Since starting to use Dead Sea Salt I had a huge break out and has not let up one bit a wk later. They are huge cystic like acne and in clusters. Once the white heads are popped it comes right back! I don’t think it was ever so bad in my life!!!! Im not so sure if I would recommend it. Price wise would totally be worth the money if it proved to work!
It might burn if you scrub harshly, have severe acne, or just sensitive skin in general.
After you have balanced your diet by eliminating processed foods and excess sugar that only weaken the immune system and leave your skin susceptible to acne breakouts, it would be perfectly fine to use a sea salt acne scrub, if you so desired. However, it is important to point out that a sea salt acne scrub will not cure your acne by any means.
Ah, so maybe you’ve come to realize that acne is directly related to your health, and that consuming foods that are very nutritious will show on your outward appearance. Yes, you’re absolutely right!
A necessary approach to improve your skin is to introduce foods that are high in both minerals and vitamins. Since a natural sea salt that isn’t processed contains these minerals, you’d do well in getting good amounts in your diet everyday!
Bottom line: Using a natural sea salt scrub can improve your complexion, but the inner cause must be treated if you want to cure your acne. Providing the nutrients your body needs is one clear example of treating your inner health.
