With spring comes a fresh new outlook, and also new products from some of my favourite companies, like Akamuti's new Manuka Honey Soap. I haven't used a bar of 'soap' to wash my face since I was about 16 probably, as they always seemed to be too drying and I learned somewhere along the line, that a specific 'cleanser' tailored for my own skin type (oily, dry, normal, etc) would be better than any soap for my face. So bearing that in mind, why did I decide to try the Manuka Honey Soap on my face???
Well, first of all its not soap in the traditional sense. It is made with pure saponified virgin Shea Butter which is traditionally used for softening and moisturising the skin. It also contains Manuka Honey, and the result is an unbelievably creamy soap bar (and I mean you needn't use very much at all to produce an incredible lather) with the nourishing & healing properties of one of the world's most healing honeys.
"Manuka is renowned for its Unique Manuka Factor, which indicates its strong healing abilities & has been used to successfully treat conditions as varied as scars to digestive ulcers. Manuka has similar healing properties to tea tree - it is the bees that feed on the manuka plant that produce the highly praised honey with its abundant healing powers. Together the manuka honey & oil creates a uniquely special soap bar that not only keeps your skin soft & healthy, it also smells so good you will want to keep trying it long after you've finished using it. The UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) indicates the naturally occurring antibacterial strength of Manuka Honey. This soap is great for everyone to use & is especially suited to any type of problem skin, including eczema & acne."
And so far, while it does feel different than my usual cleanser, it does not leave my skin dry or tight. It feels really good to use, both physically and mentally, thinking about its healing properties.
