what can cause my skin to swell itch and hurt into 2 to 3 oval or circle shape

my skin sometimes started itching and swelling into two to three inch oval or circular shapes and it is red and the area is hard. I look to see if there are bite marks but i don't see any bu yet i feel as things is sometimes on my skin, what can this be?
