Time for another Chocolate fix!

Posted Jun 24 2008 6:07pm
The older I get the more I seem to love chocolate. This was a theme in a conversation I had recently, as a few other women felt the same. But its not a craving for cheap, sugar-laden bars, its more refined, like 80%+ dark chocolate and savouring the subtle smell and taste of it in a nice organic lip balm, or soothing face mask. Its all about the feel good chemical in chocolate!

I have discovered a few new products containing the black gold, as it has been a few months since my last feature on chocolate in skincare products.Cioccolatinahas added a newChocolat Lip Balmto the range, a blend of cocoa butter, shavings of organic virgin coconut and organic chocolate with a touch of vanilla and spearmint essential oils (£2.75 for 4g).

Raw Gaiahas added aRaw Chocolate Face Packwhich is said to promote a smooth and well toned complexion and is made with four natural ingredients carefully chosen for their nourishing and beautifying properties: raw chocolate powder, the highest known source of antioxidants in the world-, red clay, organic turmeric and organic amla fruit powder. I love the purity of Raw Gaia's ingredients and this is the only chocolate face mask I have found since Ecco Bella's and it compares most favourably in price (£8.20 for 50g jar where Ecco Bella was £25 for 125ml). I was also disappointed to discover that Ecco Bella's Dark Chocolate Mask contained parabens.

Anita Grantalso has a relatively newDark Chocolate and Banana Smoothie Face Mask(£11.95 for 100g). This one says ideal for dry and sensitive skin types, but not suitable for oily skin.

Another UK skincare company based in West Sussex, developed their own organicChocolate Shampoo and Conditioner(£6.15 for 250ml) formulated with vegetable-based cleansing agents and no SLS (sulphates).
