Pomegranate juice has been on my radar for awhile now, as it has become very popular due to the studies that have been done showing its myriad health benefits. It has been shown to reduce clogged arteries in people with atherosclerosis, for instance. It has also been shown to reduce hypertension, as an Israeli study revealed a 21% reduction after one year of juice consumption. Ok, but I don't really like the taste of Pomegranate. I know, I've tried, but I can't help it. Pomegranate in skin care is a newer development on my personal radar.
The lovelySaaf skincarethat I have been enjoying most recently, has Pomegranate Seed Oil in it. I have also been tipped aboutPomega 5, a new American line based entirely on the benefits of Pomegranate Seed Oil and the Omega 5 oil it contains. Unfortunately Pomega 5 is not available outside the states yet, but if you happen to be in the states, then check out their website, and Whole Foods Market where their line is available. The website itself is very informative with a history of Pomegranate, various research studies, and company ethics.
Here in the UK, I found Shea Butter Cottage, a Fair Trade small business stocking organic and natural skincare ingredients to make your own. Here you can buy purePomegranate Seed Oil, for creating your own skincare. Founder, Akua Wood originally from Ghana, also runs Cioccolatina, an organic skincare company that also adheres to fair trade principles. She has some truly unique products like theBaobab Soap, the likes of which I haven't seen anywhere else! Or the newChocolat Massage Melt! (well you know me and my penchant for chocolate!)
TheCioccolatina siteis so full of goodness you really have to see for yourself. Akua has whipped up a fabulous variety of skincare products also including theOhema Body Spraywith the exotic scents of Jasmine, Patchouli and Rose essential oils (30ml £7.00).
