Sibu Beauty Review: Sea Buckthorn Berry Juice

Posted Mar 26 2010 1:57pm

While shopping at my local Whole Foods a few months back I came across a woman giving out samples of a orange-colored juice from a company called Sibu. Being a bit jaded from the continual outcropping of liquid supplements I asked, “What’s the gimmick with this drink?” I found out that the secret ingredient found in this supplemental drink is the Sea Buckthorn Berry – a cherished fruit that is native to Tibet. Sea Buckthorn is loaded with Omega fatty acids 3, 6 and 9 and also claims to have exceptional nutrient qualities for hair, skin and nails.

Sea buckthorn liquid supplement – $29.95 (25.35 fl. oz)

Revitalize & Renew is an all natural liquid dietary supplement made from the nutrient-dense sea buckthorn berry harvested exclusively for Sibu Beauty in the Himalayas of Tibet. This invigorating blend is a mixture of tart and sweet, and a delicious way to begin and end each day. Each sip embodies the spirit and resiliency of the hearty, orange sea buckthorn berry. Revitalize & Renew is loaded with the essential Omega fatty acids 3, 6 and 9. It is also a rich source of elusive Omega 7 fatty acids, a rare and vital component for cellular support and healthy hair, skin and nails. This proprietary formulation is also rich in phytosterols, polyphenols, amino acids, carotenoids, vitamins and minerals. Sea buckthorn berries contain over 190 bioactive compounds.

Directions: Drink 1-3 ounces daily to nourish and energize.*

Ingredients: Sea buckthorn fruit puree, apple juice from concentrate, white grape juice from concentrate, acerola fruit juice from concentrate, certified organic evaporated cane juice, banana puree, sea buckthorn seed oil, natural flavors (mango/citrus), pectin, xanthan gum

My Review:

My first impression after tasting this drink was that although a bit tangy, it tasted pretty decent. Many times after trying a new supplemental drink I am dreading ever trying them again!  Sibu tastes slightly sweet, having a tangy apricot-like flavor.  After drinking the Sibu Liquid Supplement daily for almost a month, I didn’t notice any significant changes with the quality of my hair or nails, however, I did start noticing some changes with my skin.

I would have to say that the general health and clarity of my skin was better while drinking the Sibu supplement.  As I was noticing improvements I also started to receive many *kind* compliments from others about my glowing skin.  And realizing that many things can contribute to your skin’s vitality (product, diet, hormones, stress…) I honestly feel like I need to offer Sibu some credit for my healthy skin -  I’m hooked!
