RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream + Eye Cream Review

Posted Oct 31 2011 10:29am

When it comes to relationships, I’m a diehard romantic, and do believe love at first sight can exist.  Yet when it comes to skin care, and more specifically the RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream ($13.19, Amazon.com) and Eye Cream ($6.97, Amazon.com) let’s just say I’m glad I believe in second chances as well.

At first glance, I did not like RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream because it contains a very low concentration of retinol, amongst the lowest I have encountered in an over-the-counter drugstore product:  about 0.01-0.015%, to my best approximation.  (Most drugstore creams, like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Night Cream , contain about 0.025%.  Higher-end and more exclusive brands, like Green Cream and Skinceuticals , are generally in the 0.3-1.0% range).  Plus, RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream are rather potently fragranced – an unusual finding for sensitive skin.

Personal Use and Opinions

So when a company sent me RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream, let’s just say I was reluctant to even try it at first.  However, in an unexpected series of events, I tried a different, very potent skin care line, broke out into a rather severe rash, and had to start from ground zero with my retinol.  That’s where RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream came into the picture.

After about two weeks of nightly use, I started to notice that my skin was gently exfoliating itself.  Because I am diligent about my skin care, I generally do not experience skin sloughing off with just about any normal-strength product, much less one recommended for sensitive skin.  Yet RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream did the trick.  It made my skin look fresher and gently exfoliated.

Bottom Line

Are RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream amongst the best anti-agers on the market?  I’m not going to romanticize it for you:  No, it’s not the best retinol on the market for dramatic anti-aging results, let’s face it.  But if you are blessed with the “gift” of sensitive skin, or perhaps are searching for a very gentle retinoid to test the waters, then you’re not going to get much better than RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream.  It gives the effects of retinol with very little risk of irritation.  After finishing the tube, I recommend stepping up your game with a product with 0.025% retinol, like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Night Cream .

I give RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Skin Night Cream and Eye Cream a high rating because it does what it promises:  delivers the effects of retinol slowly, with little risk of irritation.  Product Rating:  8/10 (High or optimized concentration of proven effective ingredients:  2/3.  Unique formulation or new technology:  3/3.  Value:  3/3.  Sunscreen: 0/1).
