There's a new way to reduce your love-handles. It's called "CoolSculpting" and has just been cleared by the FDA.
Coolsculpting will compete with liposuction as a way for people who are not overweight, but who despite exercise and a good diet have pockets of fat, to remove up to 20% of fat in the problem area.
Basically it involves freezing the fat cells and thus killing them. It takes about three months for the cells to shrink, die and disappear. Apparently fat cells are much more susceptible to extreme cold and can be selectively and permanently destroyed.
"Unlike most other methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting involves no needles, surgery or downtime. During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treatment area to specifically target underlying fat, leaving surface skin tissue unaffected. Procedures last about one to two hours."
