I am 37 yoa and recently noticed a small "mole" on my lower back that I cannot remember before. I have very few moles on my body. Just to be careful I went to a derm. I found in the phonebook who removed it and sent it out to be checked. The problem is she told me nothing about what to expect and walked out of the room. To be honest, it made me a bit concerned. The mole was on my lower back and measured about 1/8" in diameter, brown in color and slightly raised. My wife said it looked normal to her but I had picked at it, thinking it was a pimple, and made it a little red (the Derm mentioned the redness when she examined it and I tried to explain that was probably from me) From what I can see on the net, it does not really resemble a melenoma but who am I to say. The derm mentioned displatic Nevi. I am not sure what this is. My question is what are the chances this is skin cancer? Is it normal to develop a new mole at age 37? The mole may have been there all along although I have to admit, I never saw it. I have a decent picture of it if that would be helpful. Thank you for your time and help and I am sorry for the long explaination.
